The Grant County
Rescue Mission
Since 1986 the Grant County Rescue Mission has been serving the
community by meeting the spiritual, physical and psychological needs of
those who live in our community and those who pass through on a daily
basis. The Grant County Rescue Mission provides food, clothing and
shelter for the poor, needy and homeless 365 days a year. In 2004, the
Mission provided over 50,000 meals, 13,000 nights of shelter and over
300 chapel services were offered with an average of 50 salvations. We
are very excited about what God is doing in our ministry.
In the recent
past, we have also implemented educational and counseling programs to
provide opportunities for healing, growth, and employment for the
homeless population.
Volunteers are an essential part of every program at Grant County Rescue
Mission Ministries. We have opportunities for individuals and groups
alike at all of our facilities. We are in need of volunteers in various
areas throughout the year. There is a place for everyone to give of
their time to those in need. Some of our ministries include:
- FEED-the-NEED: a food
collection ministry giving churches, businesses and schools
the opportunity to give non-perishable food items to the Mission
-
MISSION MART Thrift Store:
Provides low-cost clothing and household items to those with limited
income. The store also has “FREE DAYS” twice a month for those who
need clothing but have no income at all.
- HANDS-that-HELP: A
ministry giving businesses opportunities to help provide paper and
other necessary products for the Mission.
- Street Care: A
ministry giving residents of the mission the opportunity to give
back to the community tangible, necessary items.
- G.E.D.: Through a
grant we received, the Mission is able to provide G.E.D. classes and
testing at no cost.
- Computer Skills Classes:
The Mission provides computer skills training to those interested in
learning computer skills to be better equipped to compete in the job
market. This ministry is strictly ran by volunteers who are
passionate about this ministry.
Executive Director Tom Ballard is available to speak
at any function regarding the ministry of the Mission or to help in any
other way possible.
